Installation

Cabinet scribe

Scribing is trimming a cabinet edge or filler to match an uneven wall or floor, so the cabinet sits tight with no visible gap.

Walls are rarely straight. Scribing fixes that. The installer holds the cabinet against the wall, traces the wall's shape on the edge, and trims to the line. The cabinet then meets the wall with no gap.

Scribing needs extra material to cut. Many cabinets have a scribe edge, or the installer uses a filler for this reason. The same method fits the base to an uneven floor along the toe kick.

Good scribing hides problems in the room. It takes patience and the right tools, which is one reason people hire a skilled installer. The Endura installation guide says installation "should be handled by a licensed contractor or an experienced cabinetry professional."
