Outdoor
HDPE
HDPE, or high density polyethylene, is a durable plastic that outdoor cabinets use because it does not rot, swell or need paint.
HDPE is a tough plastic that is also used in marine boards and playground gear. It takes in almost no water. It will not rot, rust or feed mold, so it suits patios, pool areas and coastal homes.
This matters because outdoor kitchens face rain, sun and humidity. Wood and wood-based panels can swell and peel in that setting.
The Endura brochure says its cabinets are "Made of 3/4" marine-grade, all-weather high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Cabinets never need sanding or painting." It also says the HDPE is UV and weather-resistant. The Endura brochure lists a limited lifetime warranty for the line, with a five year term on hinges and legs. See Endura outdoor cabinets and the outdoor kitchen cabinet materials guide. Learn about the term marine-grade polymer.
