Soft-close hinge
A soft-close hinge has a built-in damper that slows the door during the last part of its swing, so it shuts quietly and does not slam.
A soft-close hinge contains a small damper. When the door nears the cabinet, the damper catches it and eases it shut. You can let go of the door and it closes without noise.
It matters for daily use. Quiet doors are easier on the ears and on the finish, because doors do not bang against the box. Most good hinges also let you move the door in several directions, which helps you line up the gaps. See hinge adjustment.
The 2023 catalog says its soft-close glides "have been tested over 50,000 times" and its 6-way adjustable hinges twice that many. The Endura brochure lists "304 stainless steel 6-way adjustable hinges" with a soft-close mechanism. See the Endura outdoor line and the Diamond Difference.
