# Outdoor kitchen cabinets for Florida weather

The best outdoor kitchen cabinets resist moisture, sun and, near the coast, salt. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) takes on very little water, and stainless steel suits hardware when the grade fits the setting. Innovation Cabinetry makes Endura outdoor cabinets from 3/4 in. marine-grade HDPE in five door styles. You buy through a dealer.

Material

3/4 in. marine-grade, all-weather HDPE (Endura)

Hardware

304 stainless steel 6-way adjustable soft-close hinges and adjustable legs

Door styles

Club, Moderno, Oxford, Regent, Sedona

Warranty

Limited lifetime (5 years on hinges and legs)

## Pick the material first

Water, sun and salt decide how long outdoor cabinets look good. Choose a box material that does not soak up water.

## Check the hardware

Hinges and legs fail first near salt air. Ask which stainless grade the maker uses.

## Plan the layout

Decide where the grill, sink and refrigerator go before you pick cabinet sizes.

## Buy through a dealer

Innovation Cabinetry sells Endura through authorized dealers, not directly to homeowners.

Outdoor cabinet materials and what the sources say

Material

What the sources say

What to ask your dealer

HDPE (Endura box and doors)

Low moisture absorption. UV stabilizers help it in long outdoor use.

Is the HDPE UV stabilized? What is the warranty?

Stainless steel (hinges, legs, hardware)

Sea spray chlorides can cause pitting and rusting unless the grade resists them.

Which grade is each hinge and leg?

Marine-grade polymer (a trade term)

A maker's term. The Endura brochure calls its HDPE marine-grade.

What test or standard backs the term?

Sources: Xometry on HDPE, NEMA Enclosures on stainless steel in coastal air, Endura brochure.

## What material is best for outdoor kitchen cabinets?

The best material takes on very little water, handles sun and heat, and does not need repainting. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) fits that list. Stainless steel also works, mostly for hinges, legs and hardware. Your choice depends on how close you are to the water, how much shade you have and how you plan to clean.

Three forces wear out outdoor cabinets: water, sun and salt. Indoor cabinet boxes of wood or board take up moisture and swell. Outdoor cabinets avoid that problem by using a material that does not absorb water.

In Florida, add humidity to the list. UF/IFAS Extension notes that “the air in Florida has lots of moisture.” That is true on a lanai as much as on an open patio. A covered lanai blocks direct rain. It does not block humid air.

Innovation Cabinetry’s answer is the [Endura collection](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/endura). Every Endura cabinet is made of 3/4 in. marine-grade, all-weather HDPE. The brochure says the cabinets never need sanding or painting.

## What is HDPE, and why do outdoor cabinets use it?

HDPE is a dense plastic that takes on very little water. Makers use it for outdoor products because water does not weaken it. Sun can degrade HDPE that has no UV stabilizers, so look for a maker that states UV resistance. Endura’s brochure states that its HDPE is UV and weather-resistant.

[HDPE](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/glossary/hdpe) is short for high-density polyethylene. Xometry, a manufacturing marketplace, says HDPE “has a low moisture absorption rate, which prevents water from weakening its structure.” It also says HDPE is susceptible to UV degradation. Makers add UV stabilizers to handle that.

The Endura brochure makes these claims for its HDPE:

- It is 3/4 in. marine-grade, all-weather HDPE.
- It is UV and weather-resistant.
- It will never rot, delaminate or splinter.
- It never needs refinishing.
- It is 100% recyclable, with a recycling code of 2.

“Marine-grade” is a maker’s term. See [marine-grade polymer](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/glossary/marine-grade-polymer) for how it gets used. Ask any maker what test or standard backs it.

## How do HDPE, stainless steel and other materials compare outdoors?

HDPE suits the cabinet box and doors because it does not absorb water. Stainless steel suits hinges, legs and pulls because it is strong and resists rust. Each material has one main weak point. HDPE needs UV protection. Stainless steel needs the right grade near salt water.

The table above sets out the trade-offs. A few notes on each.

**HDPE.** The box and doors are one material, inside and out. Endura’s page says the interior and exterior finish match. It also says the solid, uniform color lets minor scratches go “virtually unnoticed.”

**Stainless steel.** Not all stainless steel is the same. NEMA Enclosures explains that airborne sea spray, rain and wind-carried salt “may cause pitting and rusting of stainless steels, unless a sufficiently corrosion resistant grade is chosen.” Endura hinges and legs use 304 stainless steel. The brochure calls the legs “rust-resistant.” If your outdoor kitchen sits within a short walk of salt water, ask your dealer how the hardware performs there and how to care for it.

**Painted or stained wood.** Innovation Cabinetry’s indoor catalog notes that “wood expands and contracts” and that this can open a joint line in painted finishes. Outdoor humidity swings make that a fair question for any wood-cabinet seller.

## Will outdoor cabinets rust or fade in Florida?

HDPE cannot rust, because it has no iron. The metal parts can. Salt can pit stainless steel that is the wrong grade, and UV can degrade HDPE that lacks stabilizers. Endura uses 304 stainless steel for hinges and legs and states its HDPE is UV and weather-resistant.

Here is what each part faces.

- **Box and doors.** HDPE does not rust. Fading depends on UV exposure and the finish. Endura offers 11 solid matte colors and 3 Decograin wood-look colors in its 2025 brochure. The brochure says matte and Decograin textures “offer a soft-touch, with resistance to fingerprints and smudges.” Ask your dealer for the current color range.
- **Hinges and legs.** These are 304 stainless steel. The brochure calls the legs rust-resistant.
- **Drawer glides.** The standard poly-glide system carries a lifetime warranty. Optional stainless steel soft-close glides carry a two-year warranty.

Ask your dealer to show you a sample in the setting you plan. Sun, shade and salt vary from one yard to the next.

## How do I plan an outdoor kitchen layout?

Start with the appliances, then fit cabinets around them. Mark the grill, sink, refrigerator and trash. Then choose base cabinet widths, add a bar-back if you want a counter bar, and check clearances. Gas, power and water lines need a licensed trade and your local building department.

Use this order.

1. Pick the site. Decide whether it is a lanai, a covered patio or an open yard.
2. Set the work triangle: grill, sink and prep space close together.
3. Choose cabinet sizes. Endura lists base depths of 24.75, 27.75 and 30.75 inches, and wall depths of 12.75 and 24.75 inches.
4. Set the height. Adjustable legs bring total height from 34 inches to 35.875 inches. This helps on sloped slabs.
5. Add the extras. The Endura line includes grill bases, a propane pull-out, a refrigerator panel, roll-out trays and a vent cover.
6. Confirm codes. Ask your installer and local building department about gas lines, vents and grill clearance.

The installation guide says a licensed contractor or an experienced cabinetry professional should handle installation. It recommends at least two people. For a full walk-through, read the [outdoor kitchen planning guide](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/guides/how-to-plan-an-outdoor-kitchen).

## What should I know about hurricane season and outdoor cabinets?

Plan for storms before you buy. NOAA says the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. Cabinet material does not decide how a storm treats your home. Secure what can move, and ask your installer about anchoring and about gas and power shutoff.

UF/IFAS Extension advises Florida homeowners to store outdoor furniture and other items inside “if they could be blown away or cause damage in severe weather.” Loose grill carts, cushions and cabinet doors left open all fit that advice.

Anchoring, wind load and code rules vary by city and county. This page gives general information only. Confirm every detail with your installer and your local building department. The [Florida cabinet guide](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/cabinets-in-florida) covers more on humidity, salt air and storms.

## What is the Endura collection?

Endura is Innovation Cabinetry’s outdoor kitchen collection. It is built from 3/4 in. HDPE with a patented hidden joinery system, so no fasteners or screws show on the outside. It comes in five door styles: Club, Moderno, Oxford, Regent and Sedona.

The Endura page also lists these features:

- Modern full-access box construction with full-depth adjustable shelving.
- 304 stainless steel 6-way adjustable hinges with a soft-close mechanism.
- Adjustable rust-resistant 304 stainless steel [legs](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/glossary/adjustable-leg) and an optional clip-on toe-kick.
- A factory-machined, optional decorative end panel.

The five door styles, as the catalog describes them:

- **Club:** a mix of traditional and contemporary styling with a beveled outside edge.
- **Moderno:** sleek, angular and straightforward.
- **Oxford:** a V-grooved look that suits a farmhouse setting.
- **Regent:** traditional style with an ogee outside edge.
- **Sedona:** a Shaker-style profile for a contemporary, minimal look.

## Can I buy Endura as a ready-to-assemble kit?

Innovation Cabinetry publishes assembly guides for an Endura ready-to-assemble (RTA) line. They cover grill bases, sink bases, wall cabinets, a refrigerator panel and more. Ask your dealer which sizes and colors come as kits, and who should install them.

The [Endura RTA assembly guide](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/guides/endura-rta-assembly-and-installation) explains the steps. Read it before you decide between a kit and a fully assembled unit.

## How do I clean and care for outdoor cabinets?

Use the cleaners the care sheet lists and avoid abrasive ones. The Endura care sheet lists hand washing liquid soap, glass cleaner, ammonia, furniture polish and a 10% chlorine bleach dilution as acceptable. It names three abrasive cleaners to avoid and sets a pressure washer limit of 1500 PSI.

Follow these habits:

- Use only cleaners the care sheet lists.
- Skip abrasive cleaners.
- Keep the pressure washer at or below 1500 PSI.

Read the full Endura care sheet before you use any product on your cabinets.

## What warranty comes with Endura, and where do I buy it?

Endura has a limited lifetime warranty. Hinges and leveling legs carry five years. Optional factory-installed metal drawer glides carry two. You buy Endura from an authorized dealer, not from Innovation Cabinetry directly. The [warranty page](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/warranty) has the full text.

The warranty covers defects in material and workmanship in residential use in the United States. It applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable. Repair, replacement or refund is the remedy.

## Frequently asked questions

### What material is best for outdoor kitchen cabinets?

Pick a material that takes on little water and handles sun. HDPE fits that need. Stainless steel works well for hinges and legs when the grade matches your setting. Near salt water, ask the maker which grade is used. Endura cabinets use 3/4 in. marine-grade HDPE with 304 stainless steel hinges and legs.

### Are outdoor kitchen cabinets really weatherproof?

No cabinet is proof against everything. The Endura brochure says its 3/4 in. HDPE is UV and weather-resistant and will never rot, delaminate or splinter. Wear still depends on sun, salt, cleaning and how the unit is installed. Ask your dealer about covered or open placement for your site.

### Can outdoor kitchen cabinets be used on a Florida lanai?

Yes. A lanai or summer kitchen still sees humidity, rain blown under the roof and heat. Choose cabinets made for outdoor use, not indoor wood or board. Confirm layout, grill clearance and gas lines with your installer and local building department.

### How do I clean outdoor cabinets?

The Endura care sheet lists hand washing liquid soap, glass cleaner and a diluted chlorine bleach solution as acceptable cleaners. It says to avoid abrasive cleaners. A pressure washer should stay at 1500 PSI or less. Read the full care sheet from your dealer before you clean.

### What warranty comes with Endura outdoor cabinets?

Endura has a limited lifetime warranty. Hinges and leveling legs carry a five-year limited warranty, and optional factory-installed metal drawer glides carry two years. It covers residential use in the United States by the original purchaser and is not transferable. See the warranty page for the full text.

### Can I buy Endura as a ready-to-assemble kit?

Innovation Cabinetry publishes assembly guides for an Endura ready-to-assemble line, including grill bases, sink bases and wall cabinets. Ask your dealer which sizes and colors the kit line offers, and have a licensed contractor or experienced cabinetry professional handle installation.
