# Thermofoil

Thermofoil is a vinyl film heated and pressed onto a shaped door to make a smooth, one-piece finish that wipes clean easily.

Thermofoil is a thin vinyl sheet. A press heats it and pulls it over a door core, usually [MDF](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/glossary/mdf). The film wraps the shape and leaves no brush marks or seams on the face.

It is easy to clean. Heat is its weak point. A door near an oven or a toaster can see the film lift over time. Some people use it for painted-look doors in rooms without much heat.

The Innovation Cabinetry catalog and brochures list no thermofoil product. Its doors use painted finishes, [TFL](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/glossary/tfl) or lacquer finishes instead. The Urban brochure describes TFL lacquer finishes that are fingerprint resistant or high gloss. Read about finishes on the [Urban page](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/urban_full_access_cabinetry) and see the [kitchen cabinet styles and colors](https://innovationcabinetry.multisites.ai/kitchen-cabinet-styles-and-colors) page.
